BackgroundThe antibody pair labels B- and T-cell lymphoma, T- and B-cell leukaemia and may also be used for the characterization of malign lymphoma of the thyroid gland. Hairy cell leukaemia is also antibody positive, while myeloid (granulocytes) and erythroid tumours usually are negative. LCA, the human Leukocyte Common Antigen consists of a family of cell membrane glycoproteins with a molecular mass between 180 and 220 kDa. They are located on the surface of almost all leukocytes. The two clones included in the antibody cocktail have been characterized on theInternational Workshops on Human Leukocyte TypingIII and IV and have been assigned as CD45 and CD45RB respectively Cell membrane of lymphoid cells (macrophages and polymorph nuclear lymphocytes stain weakly, while plasma cells usually are negative). No reactivity with non-hematopoetic cells, epithelia and connective tissue..
